The Most Unsuspecting (Dirty) Spots In Your Home

While it might not look like it, certain areas of your house are breeding ground for bacteria and harmful pathogens. But some of them might not be where you expect. Curious to know which areas of your home  are the dirtiest?

Computer Keyboard and Mouse

Your computer keyboard and mouse are frequently touched by yourself or others in your home. But how often do you clean them? Not enough most likely, because these items are among the dirtiest in your home. Various bacteria, mold and other viruses like to make their way into these seldomly sanitized surfaces of your workspace.

Bathtubs and Showers

While it might seem sensible to assume that the place where you get clean should be clean as well. Well…that is not always the case. In fact your bath or shower likely one of the dirtiest places in your home. Moisture in the shower can lead to mildew or harmful mold. Furthermore, your drain can also harbour nasty bacteria that might flow back into your bath or shower if your drain is backed up.

Coffee Maker

Many of us like to begin our day with a tall cup of coffee to get us going. But little did you know that you could have much more in your cup than you bargained for. I’m not talking about milk or sugar. Inside the coffee machine and nosel are often neglected areas, which also make contact with the coffee you drink. If not properly cleaned, your coffee maker could be harbouring plenty of bacteria.

Kitchen Counters

We often think of many areas of the kitchen when we think of where bacteria might be festering, but the kitchen counter is one often overlooked area. The fact is that we place all sorts of food products on our counters including produce and raw meat. Even though we would like to believe we do a good enough job, the truth is it is likely we don’t clean the counters as thoroughly as necessary to eliminate any harmful bacteria that might have made its way onto the counter from raw foods.

Toothbrush

Unfortunately, your toothbrush is one of the dirtiest places in your home. If left out on your counter, it is exposed to all sorts of splashes and particles. Furthermore if not thoroughly rinsed, your toothbrush could trap much of the bacteria you just worked so hard to brush off of your teeth.

Now you know where you have to pay extra attention to the next time you clean your home.
